Winter Circus Spirit Week and Rally

Mia Bello

To kick off the new year, Clayton Valley’s ASB and leadership starts with the first spirit week and rally of the year, filled with many exciting and talented feats.

On Monday, students wore camo, Tuesday was clown day, and students wore bright colors, while Wednesday was mime day in which students wore black and white. Thursday was Pajama day, and finally, Friday was wearing class colors

The winter rally this year was one like no other. Starting with the national anthem sung astoundingly by junior Addison Grimesey. Followed by class cheers. Obviously, lead with the traditional “Go home freshman!” chant by the rest of the school.

After, an amazing performance by the K-pop club. They had high energy and the school loved it. So much talent was displayed during their performance. Next up, the captains of girls and boys basketball, soccer, wrestling teams. Lastly, the Esports team walked out and were announced.

Up next, the seniors of the dance team walked out. They were later joined by the rest of the team and had a jaw-dropping performance. It was energetic and well-choreographed.

Next in the rally was the annual teachers vs. students dodgeball game. With the winners from the dodgeball tournament from the beginning of the year, they played against the school staff. The baseball team had played hard and against the staff. As it was played without the main lights on, the win was indistinguishable.

The real star of this rally was the outstanding aerial rope performance by sophomore Mia Fan, performed with the song Runaway Baby by Bruno Mars. Her performance captured everyone's attention. She was on the rope doing flips and turns. Mia even had a part where she nearly dropped down from the top of the rope. It had everyone at the edge of their seats. She mesmerized the crowd.

“The performance was crazy and her moves were insane,” said junior Taranjot Kuar.

After the performance, Renaissance leadership came out to have a quick mini-game. It was a cup game between two people where the coordinator would say, “head, shoulders, knees, toe, cup”. Once they say “cup,” whoever picked the cup up first would win. They had a few people from the crowd to come down and participate. It was a tournament style and in the end, there was only one winner.

To conclude the rally, Clayton Valley’s drama program performed a song from their upcoming musical, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”. The performance was ecstatic and very entertaining.

The circus-themed spirit week was a success and ended with such a memorable rally. For many more to come this year!
