In a press conference held earlier this week, California’s Governor Gavin Newsom issued a formal statement in regards to the current Coronavirus spike. During his statement, Newsom explained that when a region's ICU hospital capacity falls below 15% availability, the new stay-at-home order will be issued for a minimum of three weeks before the ability to reevaluate.
At 3:05 pm this afternoon, Contra Costa County issued a Public Health Warning, mandating that all county residents remain in their residence and away from anyone they don’t reside with until further notice. The warning also urged residents to avoid all non-essential travel. According to the Contra Costa Health Department, essential travel includes going to and from work or school, seeking health or immediate medical care, and purchasing essential goods such as food or medicine.
All Contra Costa residents can expect to be in their homes until at least early January, 2021. An excerpt from yesterday's joint conference with Alameda County and Marin County supports this, announcing, "Consistent with the State Framework, the six jurisdictions are working to ensure that all sectors have at least 48-hour notice of these closures. Most of the Bay Area Health Officers will implement the State's regional Stay At Home Order as of Sunday December 6th, 2020. In Alameda County, it is scheduled to take effect on Monday, December 7th, 2020, and Marin County's order will take effect on Tuesday, December 8th. The new restrictions will remain in place until January 4th, 2021."
