The wind ensemble, symphonic band, string orchestra, and the Disneyland band performed at DVC on April 23 for their Colors of Spring Concert.
The performances started off with the symphonic band, and they performed “Fanfare and Flourishes” by James Vinson, “Nettleton” by Johnnie Vinson, and “Adrenaline Engines” by Randall Strandbr idge. Each song received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
The next group to play was the string orchestra, who played songs that included “Allegretto” From ‘The Creatures of Prometheus’” by Ludwig van Betthoven, “Tradewinds” by Kathyrn Greissinger, and “Rondo Recipe” by Kevin Kaisershot.
The wind ensemble performed music that included “Choreography” by Robert Sheldon, “With Each Sunset” by Richard Saucedo, “Brighton Beach March” by William P. Latham, and finally “Minimalist Dances” by Matt Conaway.
The final band to play was the Disneyland Band, which included people from all three previous bands who went to Southern California during Spring Break.
For the music they played at the concert however, the Disneyland Band played a total of 4 songs that included “Imaginarium” by Randall Standridge, “Selections From Mary Poppins” by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, “Baba Yetu” by Christopher Tin, and, finally, “Ruckus” by Rnadall Strandrige.
“It was a fantastic concert, and I thought that all four ensembles were amazing, and it seemed that the crowd certainly enjoyed it,” Band Director Javier Cerna said.
In addition to that, Cerna thought that the performance was “the best that all four bands have had all year.”
