Community Garden Comes to CVCHS

Shelby Scott

CVCHS is carving out a community garden on campus as a collaboration between ASB leadership and the Foods classes.

The general guidelines for the garden have been set by ASB campus beautification commissioner Hannah Annison and Foods teacher Marcellus Waller. The intention is to grow herbs, vegetables, and other ingredients to engage students and freshen up the Foods pantry.

“Our goal is to cut down on food waste and promote sustainability by doing so,” said Annison.

Waller envisions his advanced Foods students as the managers of the garden. Growing ingredients will enhance the curriculum and could cut classroom costs in a win for students and the school budget.

Annison expressed enthusiasm about promoting green thumbs in her peers and working with “Chef Waller.”
